Allergies and Inflammation

Spring into Health!

Despite the snow that still remains, Spring is officially here and there is no better time to make a commitment to improve your health! Yes, it is allergy season and we need to be on high alert; but more importantly, it is the season to get out and get moving! As the weather improves, we can enjoy a little fresh air by getting out and being more active. My challenge to everyone is to find something you enjoy doing outside and make it a regular habit. It can be as simple as going for a walk, doing some gardening, or it can be more rigorous like taking up a new sport and competing every week. With the increase in your new activity, it is important to keep your body working properly. Regular chiropractic care will help a lot with that! You may also experience a new injury or some newfound soreness that we may need to take care of; and you can be confident that I'll have all my tools ready to go to get you better.

More activity can lead to more inflammation. We can reduce our inflammation in many ways:

  1. Proper Diet- eating a low-inflammatory diet is the best thing you can be doing for yourself and is even more important when you are increasing your activity. This will consist of limiting or eliminating Sugars, Gluten and Carbs, as well as Dairy in most cases. Reducing these pro-inflammatory foods is essential to feeling better. Instead, we all need to increase our dark, leafy greens, water intake, nuts/healthy fats, and antioxidant rich foods like berries (and NutriDyn Fruits & Greens of course!).
  2. Proper preparation for activities- This includes warming up, stretching, taping, and icing. Getting your body moving is exactly what it is designed to do; but diving hard into an activity that you don't regularly do can cause some problems. Loosen your muscles and joints with light motions and stretches, and ice any sore spots before and after your activities. If you need extra support, we can tape or brace a vulnerable area and give you the support you need.
  3. Lastly, we have to supplement our body properly. Yes, there are always more supplements you could be taking. In this case, no matter what’s on your program, you can always do more to lower your inflammation. We have anti-histamines like D-Hist that help, and herbal blends like KappArrest and HerbalEze for your natural anti-inflammatories. Turmero is our best turmeric product, and turmeric is nature’s best anti-inflammatory. The active ingredient is curcumin- which has been shown to help with not only inflammation, but bowel function, arthritis, blood sugar, and even cancer! And finally, we have a new product for your acute injuries- Soft Tissue Support Packs. These come in a 3-day pack to help your body start healing an injury right away. It is a comprehensive blend of amazing vitamins, herbs, and enzymes; ask about it today!

As you know, there are a lot of things that your body does, and we are here to support you as you reach your optimal level and allow it to do even more!

Yours in health,

Dr. J.
