Stay Positive

Control Your Outcome, Stay Positive

As the world continues to revolve around COVID-19 and all its chaos, we want to continue to remember to stay in control of the things you have the power over. Yourself, your family, your friends, and those that you influence directly are very important throughout these hectic times, especially in regard to your health and well-being. Worrying about the politics, media, and uncontrollable daily changes are just adding to your stress and reducing your quality of life. The topic itself has become divisive in every nature; and no matter your thought process, you aren’t wrong. Everyone’s thoughts and actions are rooted in their own education and beliefs, and an individual is always entitled to feel however they’d like about any given topic. This results in plenty of disagreements, but the one thing we need to agree on is to try to stay positive. Keeping a proper mental outlook will help you control yourself, your thoughts, your emotions, and most importantly, your health!

In addition to your mindset, the obvious ways to control your health start with diet and exercise. Eating healthy, drinking water, and being more active are all a given to promote both mental and physical health and well-being. Quality sleep, quality relationships, and stress management are major contributing factors as well.

The first step to controlling the outcome is to know your ‘why’. Your purpose in life matters, and if you don’t know what that is, now is the time to find out. For many, it is their family that they want to be healthy and live a long life for. For others it’s their job, their hobby, or their passion. And for all of us- our quality of life itself should be ‘why’ enough. We only get one life, and to spend it stressing about things you cannot control is wasting it. To gain the quality of life we want, we must make a plan- put the positive pieces in place, remove the negative contributing factors, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Putting the positive pieces in place can be as simple as changing your mindset; but there is a lot you can do to help achieve a positive outlook: surround yourself with the right, like-minded people, control your thoughts, speech, and actions, create routines, don’t rely on an outside source for happiness, breathe deeply, make goals, stop complaining, laugh more, learn more, look long-term, choose your responses, and most importantly- be a good person. That’s what the world needs right now, more good people.
