Fish Oils

Heart Health Month- Fat is Your Friend!

We always talk about our hearts when it comes to the month of February and Valentine’s Day. It goes without saying that we all want to have healthy hearts; and there are many ways to go about keeping your heart as healthy as possible- diet and exercise always come first, and a handful of different supplements are specifically designed to keep us ticking. One of the most important is simple and a baseline staple for most people: Fish Oils.

Fish oils are the most popular natural supplement in the country, and for good reason. They contain Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which have been proven to have amazing benefits for your heart health and so much more. Research shows Omega-3’s reduce the risk of heart attack, even more than medications like statins. Fish oils also lower triglycerides, reduce inflammation, and have the same blood thinning effect as aspirin- thus reducing blood pressure. In addition, they have been shown to increase HDL (good cholesterol) and reduce plaquing and hardening of arteries.

What else do Omega-3’s help with? They are great for increasing Dopamine production (boosting your mood), they increase libido, improve body composition, clear up skin issues, and since our brains are composed of mostly fat- they are great for your brain as well! High DHA levels (one of the Omega-3’s) is very good for your brain and helps with brain fog, mental decline, neurologic development in babies, and certain conditions like ADHD.

We have multiple types of fish oils available in our office; but getting Omega-3’s doesn’t have to be from fish oils- food! chia, flax, nuts (especially walnuts, avocados, and of course, fish! Increasing your Omega-3’s in your diet can limit how many fish oil supplements you need, but the more the merrier with adding in something so good for you!

Pretty amazing stuff! So, if you are wondering how to boost your heart health and overall well-being, ask about fish oils today!

And of course, getting adjusted helps your heart too! Research has shown a significant reduction in blood pressure with chiropractic care, and we help the nervous system function better, so your body can work at its best, heal better, and feel better!

Yours in health,
